OEM Benelli M4 Aluminum Trigger Housing (70003) – Upgrade from Polymer & Availability Explained
In this post, I break down the OEM aluminum trigger housing (Part #70003) for the Benelli M4 and explain why so many enthusiasts choose to replace the factory polymer housing. As the owner of Freedom Fighter Tactical, I walk through the history of this original aluminum component, why Benelli likely transitioned to polymer, and what that means for performance, durability, and long-term value. I also cover current availability concerns, including the possibility that the 70003 may be discontinued, and why securing one now could be a smart move for serious Benelli M4 owners looking to upgrade their platform.

Hey folks, Todd here at Freedom Fighter Tactical. Welcome to the latest video. Today I’m going to talk about the one real option we have right now if you’re looking for an aluminum trigger housing for your Benelli M4.
As most of you know, the factory configuration comes with a polymer housing—and frankly, there’s not a Benelli enthusiast out there who prefers it. Most people want to move away from polymer and back to aluminum, so let’s talk about the option available right now.
What I’ve got here is part number 70003. This is the OEM aluminum trigger housing from Benelli. Now, I’ve gotten mixed signals from Benelli about whether or not this part has been officially discontinued. Personally, I would err on the side of caution and assume that it is, because inventory has been extremely inconsistent for years.
What I’ve seen is that it disappears completely for long stretches, and then a few units randomly show up. That makes me think they’re either clearing out old inventory or finding leftover stock. I hope I’m wrong, but based on what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t count on steady availability.
This aluminum housing is what Benelli originally used in the Benelli M4. At some point, likely for cost savings and production efficiency, they switched over to polymer. In my opinion, that wasn’t an upgrade in terms of overall quality or feel—but it is what it is.
When I heard these might be going away, I made sure to bring in as many as I could. They do sell consistently, and I don’t know how many I have left at any given time.
There was another option on the market for a while—the A&S Engineering housing—and that was a really nice piece. It had a few features that made loading shells a little smoother, but it didn’t change anything in terms of function or cycling. As far as I can tell, that option is no longer available, and I wouldn’t expect it to come back anytime soon.
I’ve heard rumors here and there that someone might bring aluminum housings back to market, but it’s all been passed around secondhand. At this point, I wouldn’t rely on that happening.
So if you’re looking to upgrade and ditch the polymer housing, the OEM Benelli 70003 is the one I recommend right now. It’s a solid, proven part, and it brings the platform back to what it originally was.
If this is something you’ve been considering, I wouldn’t wait too long. Availability is uncertain, and once they’re gone, they may be gone for good.
I hope this helped answer some questions and gave you something to think about. If you need anything, you can always call or text me—I’m here to help.
Thanks for watching, and have a great day.
