Benelli M4 922(r) Replacement Forend: The Original Freedom Fighter Tactical Compliance Upgrade

The Freedom Fighter Tactical 922(r) Replacement Forend was one of the very first Benelli M4 aftermarket parts I ever developed and remains one of the most popular upgrades I've sold since 2009. In this video, I discuss the history behind the forend, why it was originally created for 922(r) compliance, the manufacturing process, the reinforced glass-filled nylon construction, and the design features that have allowed it to remain virtually unchanged for nearly two decades. If you're building a Benelli M4 shotgun, upgrading your M1014, or looking for U.S.-made 922(r) compliance parts, this replacement forend continues to be one of the most proven and trusted options available.

June 8, 2026 – The Freedom Fighter Tactical 922(r) Replacement Forend

The Benelli M4 Replacement Forend is one of the very first products I ever developed at Freedom Fighter Tactical. In fact, it was the first plastic part I ever designed and manufactured for the Benelli M4 platform.

I originally developed this forend back in 2009, primarily to help owners achieve 922(r) compliance. At the time, there were very few aftermarket Benelli M4 parts available, and there were almost no online resources explaining 922(r) compliance, shotgun upgrades, or Benelli M4 customization.

My interest in manufacturing Benelli M4 parts started after purchasing my own Benelli M4 and installing several aftermarket products that simply didn't meet my expectations. I already had manufacturing experience in other industries, so I decided to begin producing my own Benelli M4 parts and see where it would lead.

Nearly two decades later, Freedom Fighter Tactical has served thousands of Benelli M4 owners, and this replacement forend remains one of the products that helped establish our reputation in the Benelli community.

Back in 2009, many of the popular aftermarket products people know today didn't exist. There were very few options available for Benelli M4 owners. One of the more recognizable products at the time was the SureFire railed forend. While many enthusiasts admired it, relatively few purchased it due to its cost. Eventually it disappeared from the market, and demand suddenly increased.

Over the years I've watched many excellent Benelli M4 products come and go. Companies introduce innovative flashlight mounts, stocks, trigger components, forends, and other upgrades, only to discontinue them years later.

This replacement forend has survived that cycle.

Since introducing this design in 2009, I have never made any major changes to it. We've completed multiple production runs over the years, manufacturing large quantities at a time due to the significant tooling investment required.

Each forend also receives individual hand-finishing. During the molding process, small amounts of excess material can remain on the finished parts. Each forend is carefully cleaned and prepared by hand before shipment.

The material itself is a reinforced glass-filled nylon. I chose this material because it provides exceptional strength and durability while also offering some additional thermal protection. The cost difference between standard nylon and glass-filled nylon was minimal, making the upgraded material an easy decision.

One thing customers occasionally notice is a slight gap or uneven appearance when the two forend halves are placed together outside of the shotgun. This is normal and is caused by several design characteristics.

The glass reinforcement increases rigidity and affects how the material cools after molding. In addition, the grip texture, tongue-and-groove design, and overall geometry of each half cause them to cool slightly differently.

As a result, when the two halves are held together outside the firearm, they may appear slightly misaligned. I've received calls about this for nearly 18 years.

Fortunately, once the forend is installed onto the Benelli M4 and secured properly, everything aligns correctly and functions exactly as intended. The fit and performance on the shotgun are excellent.

Every forend is proudly marked "Made in USA" on the interior. For many owners, the primary reason for purchasing this forend continues to be 922(r) compliance. However, some owners also purchase replacements when an original factory forend has been damaged by excessive heat or accidental modification.

The Freedom Fighter Tactical 922(r) Replacement Forend remains one of our longest-running and most trusted Benelli M4 upgrades. After nearly two decades of use by Benelli M4 owners, it continues to perform exactly as intended.

I appreciate you watching this video and learning a little bit about the history behind one of the original Freedom Fighter Tactical products.
