Tuning Your Benelli M4 / M1014 Trigger Components

Hey folks, here's a video to help you tune your Benelli M4 / FFT trigger components, should you ever have a hammer / disconnector hangup.

Here is the breakdown of the video and the transcript:

folks. Todd at Freedom Fighter tackle. Welcome to the channel. In this video, we are going to tune a Freedom Fighter tactical trigger kit that has been installed on a Benelli four trigger assembly that is, hanging up. And this is, an infra squint problem, but it's about 1% of our trigger kit sales need to have an adjustment.

00:00:23:16 - 00:00:23:21
Unknown
And

00:00:23:21 - 00:00:51:04
Unknown
if you look at this, trigger assembly that I've got, there's a lot of things going on on this trigger assembly. And if anything is off by even, you know, a few thousandths anywhere, or if there's a few things off that are off by a thousandth here or 1,000th there, it could make the difference and cause the trigger to hang up on the disconnect or, and, this is the symptom right here that you see in the video.

00:00:51:04 - 00:01:15:11
Unknown
The trigger is, you know, it hasn't fully reset. It needs to be off that disc connector. And it's real easy to go in and just, adjust it ever so slightly. Let's see here. I can get my finger in there right.

00:01:15:13 - 00:01:36:21
Unknown
Here we go. And there it is. Now it's set properly and can fire, but when it resets, it gets hung up again. So that's the problem that we're solving. And like I said, it's very uncommon to have this problem. I mean, if you sell 100 trigger kits and 1 or 2 people have to do this, that's pretty uncommon.

00:01:36:23 - 00:01:57:08
Unknown
But it's common enough because it's one of our best selling items that I deal with. This on a regular basis. And I've always meant to do a video on how to address this. And here we go. So I've got it reset and you can actually do this. Well the trigger and everything is in here. You can do it very easily.

00:01:57:08 - 00:02:08:12
Unknown
So what I'm going to do is I've got this husky file kit that I got. I don't remember where I got it, but I'm going to go with what I think is the least aggressive file in here.

00:02:08:12 - 00:02:31:09
Unknown
And well, the disc connector is still in there. I'm going to attempt to remove just ever so slightly a little bit of material. So that it will not catch the trigger any longer. And I'm going to want to remove right off of the hook right off the tip, if I can, just enough material that it gives it some clearance.

00:02:31:09 - 00:02:45:18
Unknown
It's so small that you might not even create any dust. So I'm going to take my flat file and I'm going to go in there. And do better. If I set it down. And I'm just going to ever so gently.

00:02:45:18 - 00:02:52:19
Unknown
again okay. So I'm going to reset it. Not quite enough. We're going to have to remove a little more.

00:03:00:10 - 00:03:24:10
Unknown
All right. So to give you a better look, I'm going to take my components out of the gun and show you what it is I'm doing, just ever so slightly. I'm changing and just softening up the surface of the hook. And you can do this on the hammer as well. And sometimes I'll do it on both. I'll just, you know, soften up the disconnect or just ever so slightly soften up the hammer ever so slightly.

00:03:24:10 - 00:03:31:09
Unknown
And when I put them back in, I want to do my safety function checks. I want to pass that test ten times in a row.

00:03:31:09 - 00:03:48:08
Unknown
I'll do. I'll check it ten times over and make sure, you know, I'll do the safety function check ten times over to make sure that it is, working. So safety function check is basically you reset the hammer and you pull the trigger once and you hold the trigger back, and then you try to let go.

00:03:48:08 - 00:04:06:20
Unknown
And if it doesn't fire, you have successfully checked it. And then if you pull it again boom. Working condition works great every time. So you do do those ten times. Do the safety function ten times, make sure it's working and you have done the job and got it done. And it really isn't hard.

00:04:06:20 - 00:04:10:21
Unknown
You can hack on it on two places and you shouldn't have to remove much material at all.

00:04:11:03 - 00:04:34:05
Unknown
But you can the little, hook on the hammer and the hook on the disc connector, they just have to be softened just enough to accommodate whatever is going on in here. And there's a real good chance that Benelli had to make this change at the factory as well. A lot of the times if you drop in, OEM replacement pieces, you can get the same thing going.

00:04:34:05 - 00:04:54:22
Unknown
And that's if that happens. That's because, they made an adjustment at the factory as well. So, and that basically takes the parts out of spec when you do that. So, you know, no big deal. And, we've been selling this trigger kit for, 16 years now, roughly.

00:04:55:08 - 00:05:10:14
Unknown
I mean, it's a great part. It's easy to work on, and, it will serve you a lifetime. And it's nice. 22 hour compliant to boot. So, anyway, I hope you enjoyed this video. I hope it helped you out in your journey in installing your trigger kit. If you're one of the people that has to do this.

00:05:10:16 - 00:05:30:15
Unknown
And then one thing before I close out, a couple of options are, this happens more often that this is an aluminum housing, and this is actually a vintage, trigger kit from Freedom Fighter Tactical. But, it almost always happens on a polymer housing. So a lot of times you can change the polymer housing out and it gets rid of the problem completely.

00:05:30:16 - 00:05:45:13
Unknown
But, it's not 100% guarantee, but, if not, you can use a file and remove some material and get a custom fit. So either way is going to work for you. Check it out, let me know your thoughts. Leave a comment below. Thanks for watching. I hope the video helped you out.
